Democrat Party lawmaker Critic Ipakhanon reported to the Economic Crime Suppression Unit (ECSU) on Tuesday, admitting charges of VAT fraud. According to sources from Thansettakij, the investigation was expanded to include other cases of tax fraud. Meanwhile, an insider from Bangkok Post reports that a key suspect has been arrested as part of the probe. In recent months, there has been an increase in tax fraud cases in Bangkok and other regions of Thailand. As reported by Thaiger, two Chinese content creators were arrested in the capital for drug trafficking, pornography, and sex toys. Also, Thaiger published an article advising citizens to be vigilant when receiving calls from scammers posing as bank or police officials. In light of this, citizens are advised to verify offers before making investment decisions or participating in exchange programs. Last year, Thaiger reported a case where a former beauty pageant winner lost 70 million baht on Forex fraud. A monk from Bangkok was also arrested for suspected account fraud. The Thai government is actively combating fraudulent schemes, and as reported by Thaiger, the number of fraud cases involving disbursements has decreased by 60% following increased anti-crime measures. At the same time, Thaiger reported cases of fraud in call centers linked to Laos. Overall, the situation with fraud in Thailand remains complex, and citizens are advised to be cautious and verify information before making decisions.
