Fire at Construction Site in Bang Tao

On July 31 during the day in the coastal area of Bang Tao, near a local Muslim cemetery, a fire broke out on a construction site. It should be noted that this area is known for hosting such beach clubs as Maya and Nomad. According to The Phuket News and a copy of the police report available to "Phuket News," the report of the fire was received by the Chumpon Thalang sub-district around 13:30. The location in the report is given as "the road near the Muslim cemetery in Bang Tao," while The Phuket News article mentions it as "Kupo Bang Tao Rd., Chumpon Thalang, Thalang." The fire started on the upper level of an unfinished building, directly under its roof. It is unknown what exactly caught fire, but a thick black smoke rose from the construction site, visible from afar. Firefighters were called to the scene and managed to contain the fire and prevent further spread. No information about casualties has been reported. The extent of material damage is still being determined. Investigators examined the scene and consulted criminologists to determine the cause of the fire. An official version of how the fire started has not yet been announced.
